Tens of millions of people would lose insurance under Trump’s bill, report finds

The number of US people without health insurance would be 23 million higher by 2026 if the bill to repeal and replace major portions of the Affordable Care Act is enacted, a new report concludes. The analysis by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has calculated that the bill, approved by the House of Representatives earlier this month, would increase the number of uninsured people to 51 million in that year, whereas the number would be 28 million if Barack Obama’s act remained intact.1

The findings underscore the difficulties the Republicans face in their effort to repeal the 2010 health care reform law, often called Obamacare, something they have promised to do since it was passed.
