CQC says it failed to respond adequately to concerns about care home deaths

The Care Quality Commission failed to respond to early warning signs of problems and took too long to recognise and act on risks to residents at a care home in West Sussex. An inquest subsequently found that neglect had contributed to the deaths of five people there and that other residents experienced “suboptimal” care, the CQC has found in an analysis of its role in the case.1
