Toronto strives for normality after WHO lifts travel warning

Canada is making huge efforts to recover Toronto's prominence as a tourist destination and commercial centre after the World Health Organization's reversal last week of its earlier advice to travellers to consider postponing all but essential travel there because of the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
The WHO announcement came after a meeting in Geneva between health officials from WHO and Canada. It was “based on consideration of three criteria: a decrease to below the defined threshold level of 60 prevalent SARS cases and five new SARS cases per day, a period of 20 days since the last case of community transmission occurred, and no new confirmed cases of exportation.”
