In the final paragraph of the “Patient level analysis” section of the Results in this research article by Mark J Bolland and colleagues (BMJ 2010;341:c3691, doi:10.1136/bmj.c3691), a late change by the authors altered their intended meaning of the penultimate sentence. The sentence, which starts “Stroke occurred in 190 people allocated to calcium . . .” should have read: “Overall, 190 strokes occurred in people allocated to calcium compared with 156 in people allocated to placebo (1.24, 0.99 to 1.56, P=0.07).”
