Alfred Robinson

Alfred Robinson (“Bud”) was born in Grimsby to Kathleen and Albert Robinson and was educated locally. He won a scholarship to St John’s College, Cambridge, to study medicine and did his clinical training at Guy’s Hospital Medical School. His national service was in the navy in the frigate squadron, mainly in the Far East, and it was during this time that he decided to specialise in paediatrics.

He continued his training at St Thomas’ and Bart’s hospitals, during which time he arranged highly regarded teaching sessions for the students and published several articles, including in the Lancet.
