Doctors are asked to tackle inequality throughout cancer care pathway

    Tackling inequalities in cancer care will help to even out outcomes, a new government report says.

    The report, by the Department of Health’s National Cancer Equality Initiative, calls on clinicians to promote equality in cancer care “throughout the patient pathway.”

    The report highlights the nature and extent of inequalities in cancer outcomes. It found that cancer incidence and mortality are generally higher in deprived groups than in affluent groups, higher in older than in younger people, and higher in men than in women.
