Smoker wins damages against US tobacco company

The tobacco industry suffered a legal setback when a Florida jury awarded $750 000 (£500 000) to a 66 year old man who developed lung cancer after smoking Lucky Strike cigarettes for 44 years. The six member jury deliberated for two days before ruling in favour of Grady Carter, a retired air traffic controller.
