I agree wholeheartedly with the points made in this article, especially as it will make my diabetes outpatient letters a lot shorter. Instead of including a list of dubious biomedical measurements (HbA1c, cholesterol, HDL, blood pressure, albumin/creatinine ratio, etc), my letters can just now state the following:

Dear GP
I saw Mr/Mrs X for diabetes review today. He/she is still alive. I do not believe in surrogate endpoints.
Yours, etc
