Reds under the beds

The response from Dr Wilton highlights the concerns of
many
observers this side of the pond that many Americans are obsessed with the
alleged evils of big government.

The role of big government is to support the rights (not privileges
as Dr Jaleel
rightly states) of its citizens and this includes creating an
infrastructure, or
matrix, of systems that facilitate a dynamic economy. This includes
railroads,
roads, utilities, and comprehensive health care to keep its vital
workforce in
good health. Add to that a compassionate programme to care for the
retired.

Obama is doing the right thing to ensure a healthy workforce have
adequate
insurance. Let’s face it; the wealthy denizens of America need the foot
soldiers
to create the wealth for them. They can’t do that if they are sick.
