John Heptonstall misquotes me. I did not in fact state that he had
provided only anecdotal reports and uncontrolled
studies. What I actually said was:

“John Heptonstall may try to impress with a long list of
anecdotal reports and uncontrolled studies......”

That comment was made after his second list appeared. I have
substantiated my claim by showing that for the most part they were
indeed either uncontrolled studies or anecdotal reports. Context is
not the point here, I am simply stating facts. I agree that anecdotal
reports may be illustrative of a point being made, but they are right
at the bottom of the hierarchy of evidence.

Since then Heptonstall has posted another long list. I will be
pleased to read all those if he wants to tell me which ones I have
not critiqued so far, but I fear this might be getting too tedious
for readers (if we have any others left by now).
