H-index pathology: implications for medical researchers and practitioners

BMJ 2009; 339 doi: https://doi.org/10.1136/bmj.b5356 (Published 15 December 2009) Cite this as: BMJ 2009;339:b5356

Rapid Response:

A misdiagnosis, and an omission

Misdiagnosis: "The fear of h-index dilution" is a disease of h-
idiots. You cannot dilute an h-index, just as you cannot make Bill Gates
poor by sending him lots of small checks.

Omission: You forgot the Horne-Petrie-Wessely syndrome, known as H-
syndrome. Nice job on the reference list!
