Rapid Response:

Better prediction with QRISK

The study is very interesting. This study showed that the QRISK
underestimates 10 year cardiovascular disease risk, but the magnitude of
under prediction is smaller than the over prediction with Framingham. The
study found that QRISK show better discrimination of those at high risk
based on their age, sex, social deprivation and existing antihypertensive
treatment. The QRISK is a clinically appropriate tool to inform patient
management decisions. This study showed that QRISK is more suitable for
reflecting the risk in people live in UK. This validity study showed that
QRISK can also be used for other population. The QRISK calculator will
help the physicians to decide who should be targeted for medication and
advice on lifestyle changes.
