GPs should use “premier” information sources when prescribing

Re: One book as a Resource

I regret to disagree with Dr Subhash but the information he provides
is incorrect.

In Portugal (and I think in Spain too) “the one source book” is
called INDICE NACIONAL TERAPEUTICO (nationwide available since at least
1996 when I arrived from Brasil to practice in Portugal) and apparently
answering Dr Dunkley advice the INDICE is published quarterly in paper,
monthly in CD and updated weekly in the web.

Simposium Terapeutico and Vademecum (Vidal is also a dinosaur) are
old and obsolete (alphabetical listing with no cross referenced indexes,
just imagine) books and are published yearly!

Furthermore here in Portugal Simposium Terapeutico is sold in the
bookstores at around €50 and the INDICE NACIONAL TERAPEUTICO is free for
all MDs. Need I say more?

Perhaps the INDICE publishers should consider an Indian edition too.
