It would be of interest to note that this case is a very good example
of some of the potentially serious limitations of the private sector.the
very fact that this patient was only being reviewed by a consultant meant
that assessment by other hopsital grades such as A&E,or orthoaedic
SHOs/registrars did not happen-this would have probably led to an earlier
diagnosis and subsequent management of significant post-operative sepsis-
junior grades are often more cautious in their assessments than long
established consultants
