Rapid Response:

Re: Re: What if?

Dr Struthers talks about barbaric retribution. To be honest, my
answer to terrorism is barbaric retribution. However with the IDF being as
moral and ethical as it is, I feel that retribution for suicide bombings
is diminutive compared with the crime of terrorism.
However Dr Struthers, if you were to have a snack in the local Macdonalds
in Bedford and a homicide bomber detonated around you and left you maimed
for life emotionally and physically, you would probably need a form of
therapy.

The crux is this. If the Palestinian Authority openly and honestly
denounced and stopped all forms of terrorism; if the hatred and
"martyrdom" inculcated in the Palestinian youngsters' education was
completely stopped, THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR RETRIBUTION. There would
also be no need for checkpoints, security fences or curfews either. In
fact life would be pleasant for Palestinians and Israelis. (Unfortunately
though, the Arab-Israeli conflict is too important to the Arab world for
Palestinians to be happy and flourishing.)
