Rapid Response:

Earliest possible prevention is far better than cure

The incidence of oral cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer as well as
lower pharynx cancer has increased many fold in India since the last
decade.Chewing paan Masala and tobacco, and smoking cigarette is the major
cause of it,but the greatest concern of this time is that due to the easy
availability of these items in the market and in small shops children are
becoming vulnerable to these habits.Hence the risk of getting cancer at
early age has increased to a great extent. Moreover people of lower socio-economic strata consume unstandardised quality of paan masala and tobacco
that might contain more carcinogens. It is certainly a cause of
concern.Recently Maharashtra government have banned the selling of
"Gutkha" after finding high quantity of Magnesium Carbonate in the
product, which is one of the potent chemicals in it, to cause oral
carcinoma.

This is a major step taken, I appreciate and hope that the laws
should be enforced in every state and very stictly in the interest to
prevent the young genertation of today from suffering from the catastrophe
of various CANCERS.
