Bryan Christie reported that the corridors of the old Edinburgh
RoyalInfirmary that closed last week had echoed to the footsteps of such
as Joseph Lister and James Simpson. That buiding was erected in the 1870s
and occupied in 1879. Lister left Edinburgh for King's College in 1877
but could have paced the corridors on a return visit. Simpson however
died in 1870. It seems unlikely that he could have walked the corridors
of that particular building.
