Rapid Response:

Pre-packed Benzodiazepines

About prescribing benzodiazepines, Pathare and Paton write: " Use
the smallest effective dose ...Do not prescribe for more than two

It seems that the package size of some pre-packed Benzodiazepines are
larger than that to comply with the principle of smallest effective dose
and shortest possible duration. These prepacked bezodiazepines may make
doctors to prescribe them for longer period than that is required. And if
the prescribed amount is less than the prepacked size, the remaining
unused drugs with the patients may be misused.

I think a review on package size of Benzodiazepines will have a
positive effect in reducing the abuse of these drugs.
