LILACS database is useful and also free

Dear Editor:
Among those databases with free access, we may include LILACS (Literatura
Latino Americana em Ciências da Saúde). This database indexes more than
600 medical journals from Latin America and Caribbean region. We have
demonstrated its utility as source of articles for systematic reviews (1,
2) and for clincal practice (1). LILACS has interfaces in
portuguese, spanish and english and has a unique contents, because most of
the indexed journals are not indexed in other databases (1). It can be
accessed at www.bireme.br free of charge.
