Rapid Response:

Easy to criticise!

Dear Sirs,

I have read the previous responses given to to initial article
refering to suicide.

I wonder, in this "Post-Modernist Society" of today, where everything
revolves around consumerism & coice, why is it that rates of suicide
are on the increase?(Are we not supposed to be living in a so-called
'happy & safe' age???)

Worse still, the general trend shows that the age of suicide victims
is decreasing!!

It is easy for scientists and statasticians to sit back and criticise
the professionals in the Mental Health Services and say 'maybe they are
not doing their job properly.'

I do not know?! Maybe they are not?! However, the problem is much
deep rooted than this.

People need to look at the society they live in. In a world where
violence is made to appears attractive. Is it such a wonder that when
some people are afflicted with hardship, they feel death is their only
option?!

We have created our own society in which we have chosen to raise our
children. We need to seriousy think about this society and the people
that live in it.

In a world where CHILDREN are killing other CHILDREN (let alone what
some adults are up to!), we must think of the images and influences we
give to our own children as they will ultimatly be the society of
tomorrow.

Yes suicide is on the increase, more interestingly, it tends be be a
problem of the 'INDUSTRIALISED'world (similar to e.g. atherosclerosis,
tooth decay and STRESS!!).

So, I leave you with one question, what does this tell you about
US?!

Yours Faithfully,

A Product of Todays Society!!!

P.S. REMEMBER...THE FUTURES BRIGHT...THE FUTURES YOU!!!
