Rapid Response:

Citing ELPS Aricles

I congratulate you on the ELPS initiative. It makes a whole lot of
sense to exploit the new communications technologies to their potential.
The eBMJ is, as usual, setting trends.

I have been trying to generate interest in this very idea for my
publication over the past year. I have met with a very muted response from
potential authors. Their main concerns seem to hinge around the indexing
and archiving of their published work, as well as the fact that no one in
the field of dental publications was taking this lead.

I have two questions for you. How will authors cite articles that
appear in the ELPS manner? What assurances are you giving to authors to
convince them that the fruits of their labour will not disappear into
cyberspace within a couple of years?
