2011, Physiology and BehaviorCitation Excerpt :The relationship between depression and circulating cholesterol concentrations has been of particular interest in several studies over the past few years. Low TPC has been associated with depression in some human studies but not others [46–49]. The literature is also mixed in regard to the relationship between depression and HDL-C. However, three large studies report an inverse correlation between depression and serum concentrations of HDL-C in women, but not men [50–52].
