2007, International Journal of CardiologyCitation Excerpt :Patients in all four groups received brief counselling, lifestyle advice, and secondary prevention advice from the cardiac rehabilitation nurse before the intervention. This early form of psychological intervention has been shown to improve anxiety and depression [37] and could account for the small difference in anxiety and depression scores between groups at outcome. Patients in all groups also received usual care from their general practice after discharge (independent of the intervention), which included repeat prescribing of secondary prevention drugs.
