Reducing overuse in healthcare

The BMJ and the Choosing Wisely international collaboration established a partnership in 2019 on a series in the education section of the journal which describe evidence-based changes to practice to reduce overuse in healthcare. The Choosing Wisely international collaboration represents Choosing Wisely campaigns across more than 30 countries globally. Choosing Wisely campaigns are clinician-led and develop specialty-specific, evidence-based recommendations on reducing overuse in healthcare. Articles in the series focus on priority overuse topics related to Choosing Wisely campaign recommendations across multiple countries. Articles highlight the evidence behind priority overuse topics, alongside tools and resources to help make changes to practice.

We welcome submissions from international, multi-specialty teams of authors on priority overuse topics related to Choosing Wisely campaign recommendations. Author teams are encouraged to be from multiple countries, and include a patient coauthor with lived experience to ensure that the content reflects a diversity of perspectives and be relevant to the global readership of The BMJ.
