Doctors need protected time to conduct clinical research, says RCP

The Royal College of Physicians of London (RCP) has called for doctors to be given more ringfenced time to conduct clinical research.
The call came as the 2023 census of UK consultant physicians conducted by the RCP, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow found that only 41% of respondents (1234 of 2992) were involved in research, with a lack of ringfenced time in job plans being cited as the main thing stopping them.
