Medical schools are urged to tackle sexual misconduct and safeguard students

Only three of England’s 36 medical schools have signed up to NHS England’s sexual safety charter,1 a statistic that the campaign group Surviving in Scrubs describes as “really disappointing.”

The group has sent an open letter to all 47 UK medical schools calling on them to clearly demonstrate that they are tackling sexual misconduct in healthcare and are safeguarding medical students.

The letter, which will also be sent to medical students throughout the UK to sign, says that sexual misconduct is prevalent in UK healthcare and that medical students are particularly vulnerable.
