Semaglutide reduces the absolute risk of major cardiovascular events by 1.5%

The BMJ reports the results of a recently published clinical trial of semaglutide in 17 604 people aged 45 or over with cardiovascular disease (but not diabetes) and a BMI ≥27.12 The study provides some welcome evidence on the effect of semaglutide on clinically important cardiovascular events and on adverse events leading to withdrawal from treatment.
