NICE recommends hybrid closed loop systems for poorly controlled type 1 diabetes

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has recommended hybrid closed loop systems—sometimes referred to as an “artificial pancreas”—as an option for children and adults with type 1 diabetes, which advocates say will allow patients to “live healthier lives without fear.”
If companies and NHS England can agree on a cost effective price the systems could be made available to thousands of people with type 1 diabetes over the next five years.
In draft guidelines NICE has said that hybrid closed loop systems are more effective than standard care at maintaining blood glucose levels …
