Derek John Rowlands

Derek John Rowlands was born in Prescot, Merseyside, to Arthur and Margaret. He and his sister, Margaret, grew up in their family home, a two up two down terraced house in Edward Road, Prescot. His father and most of his uncles worked at the Cable Factory, whereas Derek took an early interest in medicine (possibly boosted by the number of visits he had from the local doctor in his early years). He cherished his years at Prescot Grammar School, and it was here that he started to develop his passion for learning and his drive for self development.
