BMA chair predicts “bleak” future for Scotland’s GPs without more investment

GPs in Scotland have issued an urgent plea for help, and most say that their practices are not sustainable in the long term.
A survey carried out by BMA Scotland also found that a quarter of GPs were considering leaving their practices in the next two years, as workload pressures meant that 43% reported no realistic prospect of meeting patients’ demands in the near future.
The situation was described as bleak by Andrew Buist, who chairs the BMA’s Scottish General Practitioners Committee. …
