Consultants in England have announced plans to take two further days of strike action on 19 and 20 September if the government continues not to agree to talks on pay, the BMA said. Vishal Sharma, chair of the BMA’s Consultants Committee, wrote in a letter to England’s health and social care secretary, Steve Barclay, “Given this dispute is about consultant pay and the impact this is having on the NHS, we were . . .very disappointed by your suggestion that you would only meet to discuss non-pay issues.” (Full story doi:10.1136/bmj.p1829)
