Inquiry into maternity failings at Nottingham trust expands to more than 1700 cases

An inquiry into failings in maternity care at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is to be expanded to include the cases of more than 1700 families, making it the largest inquiry of its kind ever carried out in the UK.
The ongoing independent review,12 chaired by the senior midwife Donna Ockenden, was commissioned last year to examine failings at the trust, where at least 46 babies sustained permanent brain damage and 19 were stillborn from 2010 to 2019.
