Vaping is causing rise in asthma and wheezing episodes in children, MPs hear

Children are presenting with growing numbers of asthma and bronchitis-type incidents due to e-cigarettes (vapes), which could now be in common use by a quarter of schoolchildren, health and education leaders have warned MPs.

Significant health risks for children are manifesting themselves from the use of e-cigarettes, witnesses told an evidence session of the parliamentary Health and Social Care Committee examining youth vaping.

At the session on 28 June MPs asked Helen Stewart, officer of health improvement at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, about the college’s view on banning disposable vaping devices.
