Rapid responses are electronic comments to the editor. They enable our users to debate issues raised in articles published on bmj.com. A rapid response is first posted online. If you need the URL (web address) of an individual response, simply click on the response headline and copy the URL from the browser window. A proportion of responses will, after editing, be published online and in the print journal as letters, which are indexed in PubMed. Rapid responses are not indexed in PubMed and they are not journal articles. The BMJ reserves the right to remove responses which are being wilfully misrepresented as published articles or when it is brought to our attention that a response spreads misinformation.
From March 2022, the word limit for rapid responses will be 600 words not including references and author details. We will no longer post responses that exceed this limit.
The word limit for letters selected from posted responses remains 300 words.
Dear Editor
The moving obituary of Dr Traute Lafrenz describing the courage of her and other students in their resistance to the Nazi regime shows an inset photograph of two young people. The photograph is in fact that of the brother and sister Hans and Sophie Scholl, who, together with Alexander Schmorell were the founders of the White Rose group of which Traute Lafrenz was an active member. As indicated in the obituary, the Scholls were arrested and executed in February 1943, Alexander Schmorell met the same fate in July 1943.

Dear Editor, thank you for this article on this inspiring doctor. I think the black and white photo in the printed journal is not of her, but of Sophie Scholl, another inspiring individual. Best wishes, Chinnu

Message from the obituaries editor
I thank our two correspondents for pointing out the error with the photograph featured in the print version. I chose the photo used in the online version, which is the canonical and full version (https://www.bmj.com/content/bmj/380/bmj.p695.full). Another photo was used in print and the photo of Sophie Scholl was not captioned as it should have been. Apologies for the oversight and misleading presentation.
