GPs call on health secretary to urgently reconsider imposing contract

GP leaders in England are calling on the health and social care secretary to reconsider the imposition of a contract from 1 April.
In a letter sent on 20 March the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee (GPC) England urged Steve Barclay to sit back down and negotiate a contract that the profession could accept.
The news comes after GPC England rejected the proposed GP contract for 2023-24 in February, arguing that it was “unsafe and insulting.”1 A subsequent meeting between the BMA and Barclay on 2 March failed to break the deadlock, and on 6 March NHS England …
