My father, John Rizzo Naudi, wanted to become a doctor from a young age. During the speech he gave when receiving his DSc (honoris causa) in 2019, he said:
“I was blessed with parents who valued education very highly, and when I was 10 years old, my mother encouraged me to become a doctor. She had worked as a schoolteacher, along with one of my aunts, and it was they who made sure not only that I studied hard, but that I understood continued learning forms an integral part of any successful career.”
