GPs to consider industrial action after NHS England imposes contract

NHS England has imposed a contract on GPs that will start in April, prompting GPs’ leaders to renew their promise to discuss the possibility of industrial action.

In a letter sent to GPs on 6 March,1 NHS England outlined changes to the contract for 2023-24 that had not been agreed with the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee England. The deal includes specific new requirements on improving access but has no extra funding attached.
