Diabetes prevalence in Americas tripled in 30 years

The number of adults with diabetes in the American continents has more than tripled in the past three decades, said a report from the Pan American Health Organization.1

Poor lifestyle habits were driving the surging prevalence of the disease and have led to the region recording the highest number of years of healthy life lost through either diabetes induced disability or premature death in the world, PAHO’s report said.
