Scotland will have its biggest ever rise in medical training places next year

Next year will see the biggest ever rise in medical training places in Scotland, its government has announced, with an extra 152 medical training places for trainee doctors in 2023—surpassing the previous record rise of 139 extra places in 2022.
The Scottish government is providing £37m over the next four years to fund the places. But, while welcoming the additional places, BMA Scotland said that this expansion alone would not fully tackle the challenges facing the workforce.
