The General Medical Council has said it will not challenge GP Manjula Arora’s tribunal appeal and has called for her one month suspension to be dropped by the High Court.

The case (box 1), which concluded that Arora’s use of the specific word “promised” when requesting a new work laptop amounted to dishonesty, sparked fury among doctors, who argued that the action was “wildly disproportionate” and said that the disciplinary process was biased against doctors who trained overseas.1
