Type 2 diabetes: Charity warns of “perfect storm” putting more children at risk

The number of children registered with type 2 diabetes and being treated in paediatric diabetes units in England and Wales has risen by more than 50% in the past five years, shows an analysis by the charity Diabetes UK.
The analysis of data in the annual report of the national paediatric diabetes audit showed that 973 children and teenagers with type 2 diabetes were being treated in paediatric diabetes units in 2020-21, up from 621 in 2015-16.1
