Most female doctors return part time after maternity leave, analysis shows

Fewer than two in five female doctors work full time when they return from maternity leave, and the proportion varies markedly between trusts and specialties, a report1 has found.

The report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies, funded by the National Institute for Health Research, used NHS payroll records for England to examine how maternity affects the overall labour supply, rates of retention, and contracted hours of work.
