Andrew Fowell (“Andy”) undertook his junior doctor training in Leeds and then joined the GP training scheme in Bangor, north Wales. After completing his GP training, he returned to Yorkshire in 1983 and became a GP partner in the practice in Great Ayton. He, his wife, Anne, and their young family immersed themselves in the local community. Andy was a hugely respected and popular family GP, a fact borne out by the number of moving tributes to him made by his patients even though he left Great Ayton in 1996.
