Re: Which antihypertensive treatment is better for mild to moderate hypertension in pregnancy?

Dear Editor,
Good Day. Vanakkam and Namaste.

Do we really need antihypertensives for mild Hypertension in pregnancy?

I read with interest the article on, “ Which antihypertensive treatment is better for mild to moderate hypertension in pregnancy? “

Mild Hypertension in Pregnancy is often a pathophysiological response to Feto Placental ischemia. It is a compensatory phenomenon. Majority of the patients don’t progress to moderate or severe hypertension and don’t require any treatment. The condition often resolves postpartum. On the contrary, medical treatment of Hypertension has been reported to produce Growth Restriction. All that most of these patients require is More Frequent Follow up visit and close monitoring of their blood pressure and proteinuria.

Thank you very much.
