Re: Dr Michael Sternberg

Dear Editor,

Dr Michael Sternberg looked after me in 1971-3 when I was in my final year at UCL studying International Relations, with a view to joining the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I had had a nervous breakdown, realising this was not what I wanted to do in life; but music, theatre, films were where my real interest lay. He helped me to change direction quite gently and, in a nutshell, saved my life. He was a most caring, sensitive, and highly intelligent human being, and a great psychiatrist who is a credit to his city of birth - Vienna. RIP
