In a joint statement, the UK’s four chief medical officers have described tooth decay as “an entrenched inequality which needs to be tackled” and said that water fluoridation can help straighten it.1 Currently, around 6 million people in England live in areas with water fluoridation, mainly in the west Midlands and the North East.2
