The BMA has said that it is disappointed by the government’s announced 3% pay uplift for some doctors in England.
On 21 July the health department announced that NHS staff including nurses, paramedics, consultants, and dentists in England will receive a 3% pay rise backdated to April 2021.1 The rise does not apply to specialty and associate specialist (SAS) doctors on the new SAS contract or trainees as these groups are in respective multi-year pay and contract reform deals.
