Jeffrey Michael Dolphin (“Jeff”) Dolphin was senior consultant surgeon at Walsall and District General hospitals. He was born to Raymond and Joyce Dolphin. He grew up in Harborne, Birmingham, and was educated at King Edwards Five Ways and King Edwards High School, Edgbaston. His father was a research scientist and was keen for Jeff to study metallurgy. However, influenced by his future wife, Peggy, whose ambition was to go into nursing, Jeff chose to study chemistry, physics, and biology in what was called the “medical sixth.”
