Ajit Kumar Shah

Ajit Kumar Shah was born in Eldoret, Kenya, and came to the UK as a teenager. He undertook medical training at Liverpool University. At the end of his psychiatry training in 1992, he went to work in Australia as consultant old age psychiatrist and academic associate at the University of Melbourne.

He returned to the UK in 1994 and worked as a consultant psychiatrist at West London Mental Health Trust until his retirement in 2010, as well as a senior lecturer at Imperial College until his appointment as professor of ageing, ethnicity, and mental health at the University of Central Lancashire in 2007. He was additional professor of psychiatry at Hallym University Medical School, Seoul, South Korea, from 2009-14. …
