Electric scooter injuries

Electric scooters are cheap, environmentally friendly, and easy to park. In some cities, they have become an attractive alternative to public transport. Unfortunately, their design offers little protection to the rider in the case of a fall or a collision. In Tel Aviv, Israel, where scooter riding is popular, an emergency department saw nearly 600 people involved in scooter incidents over three years. The commonest injuries were fractures of the distal radius and scaphoid (J Bone Joint Surg doi:10.2106/JBJS.20.01746).
